Make a Date at Art with a Heart

One question we often get asked here in the office is, what's the effect of the economic downturn on the dating scene?

Good question! At least one third of Bread for the City's development office is uniquely positioned to answer it. Our answer is: "meh?"

Hrm, let's see: the Washington Post reports that dating is on the skids. And then the New York Times reports, well, that dating is on the up-and-up.

Now, to be fair, the NYT reported specifically upon online dating: "unemployed and underemployed people have more time on their hands to surf the Web, and online dating is a relatively inexpensive way to meet people."

Indeed. Your single BFC development staffers can also report that, since joining staff at Bread for the City, we have observed a marked rise in the numbers of bachelors and bachelorettes who themselves report that they amply volunteer, donate, and advocate for those less fortunate in these troubled times.

And it's for these hungry hearts--the ones who have some disposable income and a whole lotta love, especially the ones who have recently taken that crucial fourth or fifth date--for whom we have great news: Art with a Heart is this week, and Art with a Heart is for lovers!

Is there a better way than a do-goody gala to demonstrate your do-goodness, as both a human and as a mate? Not this week! For the ticket price of a few hundred dollars, the perfect fifth-or-sixth date will be yours, and you might even walk away from our auction having won the perfect setup for that blissful seventh date!

Tickets are no longer available online, but you can call Valentine Breitbarth to order at 202.386.7611. (Valentine also gives great dating advice, and that comes free.)
